You will need to complete:

Fabric & upcycling tips

Recommended fabrics:

  • You can make the sweatshirt from fleece or jersey.
  • It is also possible to use cotton gabardine, denim or velvet, for some panels or the entire sweatshirt.
  • However, be sure to choose fabrics of similar weight.

Ideas for creating an upcycled sweatshirt:

With its many panels, the Simone sweatshirt is the ideal project to create using upcycling.

  • For the body, opt for knit/fleece fabrics for a "sweatshirt" effect. Avoid thin fabrics for the upper panels, especially around the neckline.
  • For the sleeves, combine a woven fabric with a knitted side to maintain the garment's elasticity. You could, for example, repurpose a plain or floral curtain.
  • You can use woven fabrics for the sleeves, pockets, and upper back. Perfect patches to repurpose your best fabric scraps.
