Our commitments
Our social and environmental commitments are not just important, they are at the heart of our purpose. Maéli is committed to working alongside you for more responsible fashion.
1. Reduce textile waste
Our goal: to democratize upcycling, and contribute to a more responsible fashion industry.
The textile industry is one of the most polluting in the world, so we have chosen to repurpose existing materials to minimize our ecological footprint and reduce textile waste.

2. Transmission of know-how
Our do-it-yourself workshops , our sewing workshops in Bordeaux or outdoors, all have one goal: to inspire as many people as possible to create, learn and share .
Sewing allows you to become an active participant in a more responsible fashion industry.
3. Empowering women
Because today, 95% of seamstresses are women, it is for them that we design our patterns, so that they feel good in their bodies, free and proud to create.
We also collaborate with professional integration companies and women's cooperatives, where every woman is respected and valued.
And because the commitment goes further, we donate 1% of our profits to the Women's Foundation , which works for women's rights and empowerment .
Sewing has genuine therapeutic benefits . We offer workshops in specialized facilities, particularly for women affected by cancer or people in remission after psychiatric hospitalization. These times of creation and sharing are incredibly rewarding: they improve concentration, provide an escape , and above all, restore self-confidence through the pride of creating with one's own hands .
4. Promote a short supply chain
We carefully select our suppliers, prioritizing proximity at every stage: from raw materials and their processing to pattern making and garment production. Maéli is above all a human endeavor; we strive to cultivate strong relationships with our partners.
All our commitments and values are reflected in our daily work. Here is also our quality charter for our sewing patterns and kits.
