The Clementine shirt sewing hack:

The changes to be made:

Step No. 1

Cut the front and back pieces along the dotted lines in a straight line from the notch.

Cut the sleeves above the notch of the capucine slit.

Cut two strips 2 cm wide and the length of your sleeve (where you want to insert your elastic).

Use our free downloadable detachable collar pattern from our website and cut out the different pieces.

Step No. 5

Do not take parts #5, 6, 7 and 8.

The materials needed to transform this shirt

To perform this hack, you will need additional equipment:

- Two flat elastic bands, 5 mm long, the length of your forearm

- 270 cm of 3 cm wide lace trim for the collar and sleeve finishing.

 

Assembling the shirt

Step No. 6

Prepare the sleeve casings.

Close the sleeve right sides together, then overlock the edges.

Slide the elastic into the opening, machine-stitch the two ends of the elastic. Then close the opening over the casing.

Step No. 8

Place the trim right sides together on the sleeve edge. Sew 1 cm from the edge, then overlock.

Step No. 9

Sew the two collar pieces right sides together along the dotted lines, inserting the ties and the 200 cm braid (which you must gather beforehand). Turn right side out.

Step No. 10

Attach the collar to the body of the shirt, wrong sides together.

Turn the collar over onto the shirt and attach this collar with a small topstitch on the right side, 3 mm from the neckline of the shirt.

And there you have it! You've transformed your Clémentine pattern into a Peter Pan collar shirt with braided sleeves. A super trendy vintage-style shirt.
