Our vision for 2023.

2022 was an extremely rich and intense year for me, but above all it will remain the year of my most beautiful encounter, YOU.
When I created Maéli in March 2022, my mission was to reconcile fashion, social responsibility, and environmental awareness by offering positive and colorful clothing . After a year in business, and with another person on the team (Nicolas), we are aware of the long road ahead. But we are convinced of our mission and more ready than ever to contribute to the transition towards more responsible fashion.
Maéli is a mission-driven company (as stated in its statutes; if you would like to know more, click here ) which is based on 3 essential pillars :
  • Upcycling ( see how we do it here ) involves recovering discarded or unused items to give them a second life. In this way, we contribute to reducing textile waste. In France, between 10,000 and 20,000 tons of textile products are thrown away each year, the equivalent of two Eiffel Towers. Yet, the processing of this waste remains inefficient, and a large portion ends up in open-air landfills in Africa or South America ( learn more ).
  • Improving the status of women means ensuring that every woman is respected and valued throughout our value chain. We primarily work with cooperatives and vocational integration workshops. In these organizations, 95% of the workers are women. Furthermore, 1% of our profits are donated to the Women's Foundation, an organization that fights for women's empowerment and rights ( see our concrete actions ).
  • Made in France : we want to offer you creations made in France, to showcase the expertise of our country and reduce our carbon footprint. We also guarantee to offer you quality products by choosing suppliers who share our commitments and values.
Our choices are guided by values ​​of authenticity, self-confidence, and freedom.

Through Maéli, we aim to make upcycling desirable by offering ethical and positive fashion accessible to everyone. That's why we offer hybrid fashion: ready-to-wear or ready-to-sew. This way, everyone can participate in this adventure in their own way.

Our clothing and accessories are designed to promote upcycling, in small, almost unique series. They will offer you the comfort and confidence you deserve.

At the same time, by choosing DIY, we offer you the freedom to create fashion that reflects your personality . Indeed, we believe there's nothing more rewarding than creating something with your own hands. We are also firmly convinced that making a garment from start to finish is an excellent way to rediscover its value.

Maéli inspires you to wear and practice upcycling and to make this practice an act of activism for the planet and for humanity.

For 2023, we want to multiply our impact while growing Maéli: this is one of our greatest challenges for the coming year and we intend to write the next chapter of this beautiful story with you.
