Fabric & upcycling tips

Recommended fabrics:

  • For a more summery version, a light cotton (poplin, voile, batiste, percale) of 100 to 150 g/m² is ideal.
  • For a version with more structure and a nice natural drape, opt for linen, ramie or tencel of 150 to 200 g/m².
  • For a dressier version, you can use a viscose or a lightweight crepe (120 to 160 g/m²)

Ideas for creating a blouse or dress using upcycling:

  • Vintage cotton sheets and tablecloths for an authentic vintage touch
  • The bib can be made from a different fabric such as lace, embroidery, cotton voile or even a textured fabric to highlight the yoke (for the version without flat pleats)
  • For the option with ruffled cuffs, eyelet embroidery, vintage braid, or ribbon will add a lovely, unique detail.
