Fabric & upcycling tips

Recommended fabrics:

  • Short sleeveless version: opt for wool, cotton, gabardine or quilted fabric, with a medium to heavy weight (250 to 450 g/m²).
  • Long version with sleeves: Opt for cotton or a waterproof fabric, with a light weight (200 to 250 g/m²).

Ideas for creating the jacket using upcycling:

The Doriane jacket is ideal for upcycling thanks to its cut and its various panels.

  • To make it, you can reuse old wool coats, wool or quilted blankets, or even thick cotton curtains. Be mindful of the thickness, however, as thicker materials are better suited to the sleeveless version.
  • A patchwork of denim or colored fabric scraps on the upper front and upper back yokes (pieces #1 & 2) will bring a unique and original touch.
  • For the lining, a vintage sheet will add character to the room while remaining comfortable.
  • If you want a waterproof version, it is possible to repurpose fabrics from broken umbrellas or a used tent.
